Kai appears in the series as a "bad boy". Takao and Kai hates each other at the very beginning when they meets; Kai hates Takao because he loses the battle in fron of him, also he thinks Takao isn't very picky, annoying and immature. Anyway Takao doesn't hates kai, because the only thing Takao wants is become in one of Kai's friends, so it was so difficult , because of Kai's attitude about Beyblade (maybe about how Kai see the life as well). With the time, Kai became a BladeBreaker accepting Rei, Max, Takao & Kyouju as his partners.
Kai isn't ,in fact,friendly or talk much about nothing, he's the most the kind of guy that always stay cool and quiet. He likes to be alone most of the time, but he accepts his new teammates without being so annoyed (maybe at the beginning with Takao most of the others, an in the last serie [g-revolution] he leaves the team with the only objective to defeat takao(At the beginning of the chapter no. 29 he said " I only want to be like you, but when I realized I couldn't, the only way I had to take was defeat you" it shows the strong friendship between those characters).
